CrafTea Fifth Fridays 2023

CraftTea Fridays return in 2023 on each of the fifth Fridays! Collage card supplies, markers, and colored pencils provided, or BYO craft. Think of it like a bonus Friday, a mini-holiday, a seasonal celebration: let’s put away the devices, step outside of clock time, and get immersed in creating and conversation.

Upcoming:

Winter: December 29th Candlelight edition! This one will *start* at sunset (4:35pm) and be fully indoors at Moonbush Farm (RSVP for address) unless we want to bundle up for a few moments of looking for Orion in the sky (no streetlight on this block so it’s possible to see some stars if it’s clear!)

Keeping it simple with putting out all my supplies and welcoming your contributions. My winter project is collaging onto playing cards to make a deck, inspired by my ubercrafty cousin Rose, so anyone is welcome to join in that. Hot tea will be flowing freely of course, including some seasonal immune boosting options.

2024 CrafTea preview:

A beeswax mason jar candle making workshop is in the works for early in the new year! I’m tentatively planning for monthly events from May through October, and am seeking feedback on dates, themes, and crafts. Share your ideas here.

Past events:

Autumn: September 29th, ~5:30ish until dusk and beyond (sunset is at 6:55, moonrise is at 7:14)

Moonbush Farm (Cully Neighborhood of NE Portland, RSVP for address)

It’s time to transition to cozy sweaters and hot tea (I’ll be sharing my current delight of rooibos chai with a scoop of hot chocolate mixed in!) We’ll still start outside to gather inspiration from the garden, as well as materials to decorate the herb spiral, and anything you’d like to bring home. I’ll have a collaborative collage opportunity set up in addition to collage cards. As this will be a close-to-full moon night, if it looks like we might be able to catch a glimpse of it between the clouds, we can take a short walk to a good moonrise viewing spot. And then, return to continue crafting and connecting inside for a while.

Summer: June 30th, ~5:30ish until sunset (yes, it’s late in this solstice season!) at Moonbush Farm (Cully Neighborhood of NE Portland, RSVP for address) Featuring iced tea and nature mandala making ~*~

Spring: March 31st, ~5:30ish until sunset at Upright Brewing Beer Station (7151 NE Prescott) Maybe more of a CraftBeer Friday version! Non-alcoholic options and snacks can be purchased across the street at Samo’s and brought over to Upright. Donations encouraged to the Trans Health Legal Fund.

“I grew in those seasons like corn in the night, and they were far better than any work of the hands would have been. They were not time subtracted from my life, but so much over and above my usual allowance.”
